The day job, for now....?
As you know, I work for an organisation where I coordinate the work of therapy dogs in hospitals, care homes and schools. This department within my organisation has grown tremendously in the past year, and I feel beyond blessed to have been a part of it. We have supported more children than ever, whether it was to put a smile on their face while lying in a hospital bed,
or getting them more motivated to practise reading out loud. The developments have been massive, and we’re acquiring even more projects as we near the end of this year and head on over into next year.
In all the eight months that I’ve worked here, I have loved the bond that I’ve created with two special dogs. Both of them visit hospitals with volunteers, but also as importantly,
they come with me to possible new projects. They help me sell what we can offer, and usually I don’t have to say much. These two dogs sell themselves! They are loving and warm, and just want to curl up against people. And they don’t even care that they’ve never met someone before. It’s what makes them perfect for the “job” they do.
