Hi and welcome to my August newsletter.

In this edition, the publication date is set for Electric Storm, there's more about my new day job, and two new fantasy authors to discover.

My writing life

The end is in sight, yes! A last check of edits, into the formatter, cover updated, e-bookshelves finalised, and then Electric Storm is ready for publication. It's going to be the end of October (barring any last minute issues....). That's for the big wide world. But for you, my lovely readers, I'll be setting up a discounted offer in my October 20th newsletter, which will be just for you. And that will be for both e-book and paperback. Phew, it's been a bit of a long haul, but the book is looking good; PACKED with action, banter, intrigue, betrayal, loss and a bit of looove.
Meanwhile, I have also been putting together the main pieces for book 4 - you'll need to read to the end of Electric Storm to understand the challenges I've set myself (because why would I make it simple....?).

The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I now work with an Assistance Dogs charity as coordinator for social therapy dogs, that provide emotional support for people in various stressful situations, such as: undergoing cancer or other serious medical treatment in hospitals and rehabilitation centres; lonely and isolated people in care homes; and in schools, to encourage introverted and under-confident children to read (out loud).
My department is just starting up after an initial succesful pilot. As a consequence, we’re putting in a lot of effort training up more dogs and looking for more volunteers who wish to work with these dogs in some of our different projects. It’s greatly diverse; not all dogs are suitable for all projects, so we have to look per dog what project they’d enjoy doing most. Because the most important welfare point remains: we want the dogs to enjoy what they do. If they don’t, we’re not going to force them into anything. So, it’s a lot of work! But one of the really fun things to do is match a dog with a volunteer for a project. Here in the picture, you see me on the day that I’m delivering this small poodle to a volunteer. He wanted nothing more than to be on my lap—the cheeky doggy—but while driving he was safely secure behind me!
