Hi and welcome to my January newsletter.

Are you someone who sets themselves up for a target at the beginning of the year? I am, if only in a loose, non-binding sort of way 😆 (so maybe that doesn't count anyway....). I like to think this keeps my options open, because you never know what could be heading your way. What you do know is that I will be sharing my newsletter every month (until, you know, I don't, for some reason 😂) and that it will include the usual mix of writing and dog news, and some new authors to discover.

My writing life

On the advice of my beta readers' feedback I am updating a couple of chapters and adding one new chapter. Incorporating their edits is coming on slowly, but this year I WILL PUBLISH Electric Storm. And you will be the first to know when, that's a promise.

As I mentioned in last month's newsletter, I am putting my books on other e-book platforms as well as Amazon. You can now find them on Kobo, and through my own web shop. Next up will be Google Play.

The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind. This week I won’t be introducing you to a new dog I’m training. That will come again next time! This month I looked back at the many, many pictures that I’ve made of all the dogs I’ve trained in the past three years and something occurred to me… I usually show you the cool or pretty pictures, but my goodness, some dogs are just wackadoodles. Especially on camera. And especially when they’re on their back looking up…

And I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but at my organisation, two dogs share a kennel. And sometimes they sleep all wrapped up together, which is SO adorable. But sometimes… they just get a little tangled…

I actually love these kind of pictures and moments as much as the beautiful, brilliant ones. It reminds me of how impressive it is that these dogs do what they do, but also that they’re still living creatures with quirks and joy and crazy moments that we need to enjoy just as much as well. Even when they appear at inconvenient times!
