Hi and welcome to my December newsletter.

My writing life

With some of my beta readers' feedback coming in I've made as start on the next round of edits of Electric Storm.
On the publishing front, I've decided to take the Aster books out of Amazon's exclusive Kindle Unlimited e-reading service, as I am finding it hard to grab readers' attention there. In the New Year I will start adding my books to other platforms like Kobo, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
Are there any other e-book stores that you would recommend? Just reply to this email with your suggestions 🫠

The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind. I’ve already introduced you all to this beautiful girl, but I thought it’d be nice to give you an update on what her life is like now.

This Golden Retriever/German Shepherd cross has been living with her client for about a month now and I am so happy to report that they have fallen head over heals for each other. This black beauty already feels completely at home in her new house. She even curls up against her client when he meditates every evening, which is a lovely thing to hear indeed. In the guide work the two of them match perfectly; their speed in walking and thinking work really well together. This dog does get quite distracted when she sees other dogs, though, and she needs verbal support to keep her focus on the work. Luckily, this client is really good at that, so passing or seeing other dogs is not a problem. Especially since she knows that she gets to run around with other dogs as much as she likes when she’s off leash, which is for at least half an hour every day, if not more. And then she does really run around like she’s a puppy again.

Something that we’ve had to keep an eye on, though, is her weight. She’s been losing some, because this client has a very busy life and takes his trusted guide dog with him everywhere. The two of them have days where they go off in harness for over two hours! And that’s still not counting the off leash running that she gets to do. So, we just need to make sure that she gets enough good quality food in her to make sure she’s got the energy for all that exercise. Because motivation she’s got in abundance. Any time the client grabs her harness, she’s already standing in front of him, wagging her tail, ready to go off again. It’s lovely to see, and I’m so happy that she’s found a forever home where she gets to show off her brilliance and is loved for all her quirks, too.
