My writing life

Well, I didn't get as much writing done over the holidays as I have in the past, but I did spend productive time working through the structure and story arc of book 3, and also developing the short story... that I started in the summer 😆. I'd hit a bit of a writer's block trying to figure out how to end this pre-prequel escapade. Now that that's clear in my mind I just need a block of writing time to churn out the details. Then I'll send it off to my Dream Team for them to work their usual magic. I've still got to think of a good title, and get a cover designed, so plenty still to do!

The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind.

This month, though, I’m not going to share a story about one of my dogs in training. Unlike most of my colleagues, I don’t have a dog of my own. But for the past week I’ve been dog-sitting for a colleague and friend who is now on holiday. Meet tiny, bouncy Lynn, a miniature Australian Shepherd. She just turned one year old and she is such a bundle of joy. She loves to run around and play—even with bigger dogs, because she’s got a big personality to compensate her small size!

It’s been a blast having her around, and I have actually tried out something that my friend hasn’t done yet (with her permission, of course 😋). I’ve tried cycling with Lynn in a basket up front. It was really fun and Lynn really enjoyed it. The only thing that made me nervous was that she’d decided that her most comfortable position was with her front paws hanging out. Luckily she was strongly secured so there was no danger of her falling out!

Now I’ve got a few days left to enjoy her company before my friend comes back from her holiday!
