The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind. 

So I actually don’t have any new dogs to talk about this time around. I am really pleased to say that I have finally started my internal training programme to become an instructor! It took a while because there was a lot going on within the organisation, but I have finally started! I’ve already been able to shadow a senior instructor on a recent guide dog instruction for a man for whom this dog was his very first dog ever. It was an incredible thing to witness—up until now I’ve only ever seen instructions with clients who’ve had guide dogs before. But seeing someone bond with very their first dog, and realise how much more freedom they’re getting thanks to this lovely creature… it is a beautiful thing, and it makes me very proud to be a part of something so special. 
 

On a completely different note, the November autumn weather is hitting us hard, and we’ve had rain almost every day all day for weeks now. And then when I think we get a moment’s relief from all that water, I have to walk down a path in an off-leash area that really can’t be called a path anymore… yes not all paths in the woods have a draining system - obviously - and I came home with very wet socks and shoes that didn’t dry properly for two days… Oh well! If there’s heavy rainfall time - and in this country there’s aaaaalways a next time - I’ll know to bring  wellington boots to the woods - at least the dogs absolutely love it!
