Life after publishing A Crown Denied

It was with a massive sigh of relief that I pressed the "publish" button on A Crown Denied last month, as I only had one week to spare before the deadline. Note to self - don't do that again 🤪 So I am already cracking on with Book 3. It's all outlined by chapter, and it looks like it could be as big as A Crown Denied. In my usual way, chapter 1-6, 24-26 and 52-56 are drafted, and I have sections of a bunch of other chapters in note form. I'm looking forward to the holidays so that I can immerse myself fulltime in the Astersphere™ once again.

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind.

This month I would like to introduce you to one of my new dogs. Her name is Elske, and she is my tiny, adorable thunderbolt. I literally have to adjust my harness to the smallest size, otherwise she won’t fit! But what she lacks in size, she makes up for in personality, because this little lady has bundles of energy that just don’t compare to the other dogs I have in training right now. When I take her off leash in the woods, she will sprint in every direction to release some of that energy. It’s hilarious to see her zigzag in between the trees, and watch how other dogs try to chase her, but just can’t keep up.

In guiding work, she’s like a racehorse: she will just take off and she will not stop unless I tell her to. And I tell her to, a lot, because she can lose herself a bit and forget to focus on what’s important in guiding work. She learns incredibly quickly though! So every time I show her to watch out for something (to stop at a kerb or to make sure to leave more space when moving around an obstacle), she will immediately do this the very next time.

I absolutely love training this little girl. Even though she’s a little mischievous, because that cute face has probably helped her get away with some unwanted behaviour in the past, she is so smart and I can just tell that’s she’s going to be a brilliant guide dog.
