Progress report: A Crown Denied

My editor has finished working her way through the first 31 draft chapters of A Crown Denied - having dumped them back on me with extensive edits, she's getting her own back🤪 I'm deep into bashing out the last 20 chapters, which includes the next big confrontation with Kyra, the King of the South American Underworld. But Kyra is not restricted to South America for her evil plans, and for the final scenes in A Crown Denied I've been researching suitable sites and history in other continents. As to the story, well, yes there is betrayal, yes there is nail-biting action, yes there is plenty of magic, yes the Asters have to look out for each other during another perilous mission. And then there's Gayle...... 
Readers have been on the fence about the girl with the reincarnated magic of Queen Aiyana, which is just how I wanted it. What are your thoughts? I'd love to know - just hit reply.

The day job, for now....?

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind. This month I would like to introduce you to a new favourite of mine: Jacey. 

She is fun loving and incredibly bouncy. She doesn’t really like to be petted; she just wants to work and play as hard as possible. She is also one of the few dogs in our training facility at the moment who is comfortable doing the guide work at an incredibly high pace. On our list of clients, there are people who walk slowly and people who walk faster. Our task as trainers is to find out at what speed our dogs are able to do guide work best; this differs a lot per dog. If we can match the right speed to dog and client, odds of the two of them working well together improves drastically. So, I am very excited to train Jacey at this high speed, because we’ve got more clients who walk at this speed than dogs at the moment. At least we’ll be able to cross one of those clients off the list soon! 

Overall, Jacey is a great dog. The only thing I wish were different is how she behaves off-leash in the woods. Jacey absolutely loves swimming and rolling around in the mud. And because she is a white dog, she immediately looks filthy when she does this. It is just something she loves to do, and we’re going to have to find a client who doesn’t mind it. Lucky for us, there are enough of those on the waiting list, too. I am very excited to see where my super speedy bouncy ball winds up. I’m sure she’ll make a client very happy in a few months time.
