Last month I asked whether any of my subscribers prefer to own and read hardback versions  books. Well, there are certainly some who do, so I will research costs and prices a bit more. If I do go ahead with hardback versions, you'll hear it first here, in my newsletter 😊

The Day Job (for now?)

If you've come across my Author Bio you will know that I train guide dogs for the blind. For this month’s update, I'm sharing some practical details to do with the recent wintery weather 🥶 

It has been getting colder and colder these past few weeks. This means that I have to wrap up incredibly warm to not freeze when I'm outside training my dogs. I actually have to wear an extra jumper when training one of my sweet dogs, because her natural speed is quite slow... as I mentioned in a previous newsletter, I have to match each dog's pace. I am glad, though, that my dogs don't seem to have a very difficult time adjusting to the colder weather. And I am especially grateful for the vans we drive. They have a really good heating system, which means my dogs who aren't being trained can stay toasty and warm, and can sleep comfortably on the blankets until it's their turn. You'd think that this way there's nothing the winter weather can throw at us that could stop us from training our dogs. I thought so, too, but I was wrong. The other day, the temperature was around freezing, but it was raining in the night. When it stopped, every street and pavement was covered in a thin layer of water, which froze. I couldn't put one step in front of the other without slipping. Neither could my dogs. Driving was possible; the streets had been prepared. But not a single pavement, sadly. So, what did we do instead? We trained inside for as long as possible, and then we went off to the woods so they could at least get rid of some energy. Here are pictures of Zivan, who very much enjoyed running around on the frosty grass!.
