A Book's Journey
Some random thoughts on book promotion
I'll be returning to this subject often, because there are so many aspects to it - social media, advertising, free and discounting of titles, paid "influencers", email lists, author web site, book sales page, to name just a few. One of the scariest facts that you are faced with when you start self-publishing is how many thousands of books are
published on Amazon - per day!!!
So how on earth do you get yours noticed? Well, practically every expert out there says to build your own mailing list, because sales platforms and social media sites can and do change their rules regularly, and not usually with the benefit of authors in mind. Which is why I started this e-newsletter, and why I am forever amazed and thankful that people, like you, have chosen
to sign up for it 🙏🏻
It's also why I include links in each month's newsletter to sites where authors are offering a free book, chapter or except as a way to promote their work to new readers - they do the same for my books in their newsletters. Slowly but surely, more fans of YA fantasy are discovering my books.
It doesn't help that I am so not into social media - but I am trying! I have Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok sites. At the moment I am mostly posting on TT - and no, I don't do face-to-camera videos, with or without a princess crown. If you're a booktokker you'll know what I mean 🙃
